Volker Wendisch and Petra Wendisch (University of Bielefeld) visited Arne and Roman at SINTEF Ocean in Trondheim.
We discussed the microbial work of WP1 and dissemination of the project, and generally had a good time (with some typical Trondheim weather)

SINTEF Ocean finished a trial on temperature and feed type effect. We fed a gradient form aquculture sludge to pure biogas digestate to the polychaete Hediste diversicolor. Temperature had a pronounced effect on growth and survival, when it got too warm survival decreased. The feed type had no pronounced effect on growth, all worms did well!
Most important: The samples arrived in Spain & Portugal for fatty acid, lipidomics and gene expression analysis to figure out if, and how much de novo synthesis we were able to stimulate.
Finally it happened: SIDESTREAM held its' official kick off meeting. Unfortulately virtual.
It was nice anyway to meet the consortium, discuss things & set up plans.
Next meeting will be alongside the Aquculture Europe meeting in Funchal, Madeira!
